Bob’s Brain was inspired by the play, "bobrauschenbergamerica," by Charles L. Mee. The play explores the dada artist, Robert Rauschenberg, through the use of texts in the free domain. These text were either from Rauschenberg himself, interviews with contemporaries or family members, or other sources such as poems or newspaper clippings. I recorded a number of people reciting various dialogues and monologues from the play and ended up choosing a select few sound bites to tamper with. This piece, using these sound bites, explores the dissonance of the past and present, the personal and impersonal, and the subjectivity of art.
