Daniel Martin Minogue is a saxophonist, teacher, and composer based in West Hartford, Connecticut

Inspired by many genres, Daniel endeavors to write music that is atmospheric and ethereal yet continuously searching to reveal a tactile groove with the mission of exploring numerous subjects to expose the puzzles of the human condition.

Originally from Patchogue, New York, Daniel received his B.A. in Music (2016) from Stony Brook University, where he received the Elizabeth and Philip Palmedo Scholarship in the Arts Prize. Following his time at Stony Brook, he went on to earn his Masters of Music (2018) and Doctorate of Musical Arts (2023) in Composition at The Hartt School of Music, Dance, & Theater, where he held positions as the Electronic Music Fellow, and the Composition & Performance Technologist. Daniel has had the privilege to study saxophone under Ed Fraedrich and Scott Litroff, as well as composition with Phil Salathé, David MacbrideRobert CarlNathalie Joachim, and Ken Steen. Daniel currently teaches digital music composition at Quinnipiac University and Southern Connecticut State University.

Composer

Daniel has composed music for a diverse world of mediums, including electroacoustics, orchestras, chamber groups, solo performers, film, and dance. His compositions and installations have been presented at Sonic Spring (curated by Daria Semegen), the SEAMUS National Conference, the Hartford New Music Festival, Stony Brook EARFEST, the Hartt Dance Division, the Uncertainty of Fate Chamber Music Festival, and the Long Island Maker Fest. In addition, Daniel has had the opportunity to write for immensely talented musicians and performers such as saxophonist Scott Litroff, Carrie Koffman, vocalist and composer Gilda Lyons, violinist Anton Miller, choreographers Stephen Pier and Calvin Bittner, Ballet Hartford, director and actor Terry Layman, filmmaker James Evans, and bassist Grant Blaschka.

 Saxophonist

As an experienced saxophonist, Daniel has performed with the George Mason University Wind Symphony, the Hartt Saxophone Ensemble, the Stony Brook Jazz Ensemble, as a soloist with the Stony Brook University Orchestra, and with various musicians and groups like the singer/songwriter Safrah, Icelandic composer and vocalist Ásbjörg Jónsdóttir, and the jazz fusion ensemble, the Brothers Nylon. He also performs his own work around the tristate area whenever possible.
