Exploring artistic partnership from multiple vantage points, uncommon practice / open studio is a project built on the belief that collaboration nourishes creators, expands communities, and has the potential to unfold into new projects, unexpected learning, exceptional growth, and innovative creation. Working in partnership, The Phoenix Concerts, The Hartt School, and Downtown Music at Grace co-present a program of contemporary works featuring performances by Hartt School faculty, students, and alumnae, and the world premiere of two new works written specifically for our uncommon practice collaboration: Ken Steen's air is the first of mothers, for soprano voice and electronics, commissioned by The Phoenix Concerts, and Daniel Minogue's We Had a Choice, winner of the 2018 Hartt / Phoenix Concerts score call.
